Bacon Praline
Ingredients
- 1 lb applewood smoked bacon
- 1 c brown sugar
- 1/2 c finely chopped pecans
- 1 t kosher salt, pepper
- dash cayenne
Directions
Preheat oven to 375°F.
In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, nuts, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Set aside.
Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil (the edges are important to catch the grease). Place a metal cooling rack on top.
Lay the bacon slices side by side on the rack in a single layer. Spoon about 1 tablespoon of the brown sugar mixture onto each slice.
Bake for 15–25 minutes, or until the bacon is browned and crisp but not burned.
Using a spatula, transfer the bacon to a clean pan or plate to cool for about 5 minutes. Serve warm.
These can be made ahead: cook, refrigerate, and reheat in a hot oven before serving.
For appetizer portions, cut the bacon in half before baking.
