89 POINTS

"The 2009 Proprietary Red, a kitchen sink blend of Merlot, Petit Verdot, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Malbec, represents 15,000 cases and was aged in a combination of American and French oak (18% new) for 11 months. The wine offers silky tannins and an exuberant, lush, medium-bodied style with abundant fruit and glycerin, and no hard edges. It is made to please the palate for at least several years."

Appellation: Napa Valley

Composition: 30% Merlot, 23% Petit Verdot, 17% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, 10% Syrah, 4% Malbec

Alcohol: 14.5%

pH: 3.80

Ta: .57g/100ml

Tasting Notes:Our 2009 Napa Valley Red Wine is deep ruby in color and displays aromas of ripe blueberry, dark cherry, cassis and vanilla.  On the palate, flavors of blueberries and dark cherry combined with hints of oak spices that coat the palate. The soft tannins and sweet oak balance lead to a long and lingering finish.

Winemaking Notes: This unique red wine blend is from sites throughout Napa Valley with grapes harvested at optimal maturity, then de-stemmed and gently crushed into open-top stainless steel fermenters, at warm temperatures, to fully extract color and flavor. The fermented wine then was racked to a combination of French and American oak for aging of which 18% was new. During the aging process the wine lots were tasted throughout and blended back together just before bottling.

Suggested Retail Price: $22.00

After tasting this wine many times I decided to finally look up the what the blend consisted of and to my suprise there is NO Cabernet at all. This wine is a true superstar for the price and goes great with most things on our menu. It has quickly become
a fan favorite here at the Lakehouse Grille. Only thing missing in this wine is a little more body in the finish and a larger price tag

I tasted this at a wine bar in Arizona and fell in love with it. Very easy to drink but will hold up to a rich, heavy meal. The only downside is trying to find somewhere to purchase this wine (didn't see if for sale by the bottle at the wine bar). I can't
wait to get this added to my cellar!!
