Sean Minor Wines Blog

So, what'll you have?

Sean Minor - Monday, August 11, 2008

Wanted to give everyone a little insight into what we've been sippin' on lately. Afterall, from time to time we do manage to peel ourselves away from tasting and perfecting the Sean Minor vino to enjoy someone else's hard work!

 1. Bucklin Zin - One of Sonoma's oldest Zin vineyards and a favorite of my wife Nicole and I. Worth checking out if you're into a super smooth, herbal Zin with a really warm aroma.

 2. King Estate Pinot Gris - Organic from Oregon. Great price and all around great vino. Citrusy, tropical, balanced for sure.

 3. Domaine Serene Pinot Noir - Easily one of Oregon's best wines and a recent Wine Spectator Top 100. Do not think twice about this one. Just do it.

 4. Widmer Hefeweizen-We just can't get enough of Oregon it seems. The Widmer Brothers out of Portland really know their stuff and this beer can pretty much go with anything. When we need a beer, this is almost always in the fridge.

 5. Rogue American Amber Ale - Smooth, a little roast action, really good with a steak. A 22 oz. is the only way to go!

 6. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale - A Cali classic- bright as they come, hoppy and a favorite from east to west. This one is ever-present in our home and hearts.

 7. Maker's Mark Kentucky Bourbon- No matter what we always come back to the bourbon. This one always makes us feel good inside and makes one hell of a Christmas, birthday or housewarming gift for a friend or colleague. Our great friends from Kentucky always brought along a bottle of Maker's to warm us up on a cold winter night.

 8. Cape Codder- Not necessarily a brand but one to bookmark. My wife's favorite and a sure bet if you're looking for a tasty cocktail to order your lady. Add a splash of soda and you're set.

 9. The Chipper- This one comes from our long time friend Chip Goodman- who concocted this classic cocktail, registered it and actually received a drink patent from those that grant drink patents! Ingredients include; Vodka (the good stuff), tonic, splash of oj and lime OR you can choose to substitute the tonic for soda to save calories. This can also be done with grapefruit (the true original) and is best with fresh squeezed citrus.  We joke that you never get a hangover because the citrus replaces vitamins and there is some good fluid replacement as well!

Got something to share with the rest of us? Bring it on!

Memphis Flyer Says 4 Bears Winery Is Just Right

Sean Minor - Wednesday, March 12, 2008
Wine Review March 6, 2008 by Michael Hughes of the Memphis Flyer says, "While the GOLDILOCKS story has three bears, wine maker Sean Minor and his wife have four (see photo in link article)  Family is an integral part of the business. Minor bases many of his professional decisions from a personal point of view. Too many wine labels have come out focused solely on price and ignoring what is inside the bottle.  This is a folly that Minor is wary of...'Our wines are focused on the consumer for enjoyment and to be approachable'." 4 Bears in Colorado

Sean Minor - Saturday, October 13, 2007

Sean and Nicole took 4 Bears to Colorado!  We had trade tastings October 8-10th in Vail and Aspen.  Our wines were well received and you can find them in restaurants such as Terra Bistro in Vail and Restaurant 689 in Carbondale.  Our by the glass restaurant program is soaring and we are very excited for our friends in the mountains to enjoy 4 Bears on holiday or just daily!  While travelling, we heard wonderful stories from our 4 Bears Community.

We traveled through the mountains and took our wines to the Continental Divide. It was a spectacular trip.

4 Bears is "Just Right" in Texas!

Sean Minor - Thursday, July 26, 2007

Sean met with the Dallas Morning News Wine writer, Kim Pierce, and in her column dated July 25th, 2007 she had this to say, "4 Bears Chardonnay is creamy but not too creamy, toasty, but not too toasty"  It's Just Right!

There are alot of under $20 fruit bombs, but 4 bears is more complex for $15. If you have not tried our 2005 Dry Creek Valley Sauvignon Blanc ($14), 2004 Central Coast Chardonnay ($13) and 2002 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon ($15), you will pleased to find it at Central Markets and Whole Foods in Texas!  Enjoy!
